Are you concerned that you may have an ADHD diagnosis and it's negatively impacting your ability to function? Your mental health is our top priority. We strive to help you improve your quality of life, reach your goals, and achieve living your best possible life!
Our very comprehensive ADHD consult appointments are completed by experts in the field of ADHD. So while they are not too lengthy, they are quite thorough.
These visits include objective screening tools, subjective data collection, and screening for other mental and medical health conditions, with lab workup if necessary.
Treatment includes goal setting, non pharmacological options and lifestyle strategies as well as discussion about medication options and prescription same day. Follow up and ongoing medication management at our clinic is offered if you do not have a primary health care provider following you.
You also will be provided a detailed written diagnosis letter after your visit that includes what type of assessment was completed, your diagnosis, treatment plan and follow up recommendations.
Please message us using the chat in the bottom right corner of your screen if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are a private clinic so our visits are not covered by OHIP however we are doing everything we can to keep cost as affordable as possible for our clients. If you have private insurance with a health care spending account, you may be able to submit receipt for reimbursement.
We like to see you every 4 weeks after starting a medication until you have reached a stable dose and your symptoms are well managed. Once medication and symptoms are stable, we can see you every 3-6 months.
If indicated, a prescription can be faxed to your local pharmacy at the end of your visit. If you prefer following up with your doctor, we will fax over your consult to them for review. If you do not have a primary care provider, Lakeshore ADHD can manage your medication until you get connected with a provider.
We will send you a short intake form with screening tools to complete online prior to your visit. These will take 10-15 minutes. You can talk to family members about childhood symptoms if you are forgetful or collect school records if you have access to them. Otherwise just bring yourself and your provider will walk you through the rest!
We aim to provide a very holistic approach, this includes addressing any physical concerns, discussion regarding therapy options, psychoeducation and recommended personalized resources, lifestyle strategies, as well as options for supplements and medications to manage symptoms.
Absolutely not. While some people do require long term management with medication, it is always our goal to pair it with lifestyle habits and strategies to support long term optimal functioning. Once patients have developed solid lifestyle habits to support themselves, some decide to taper off medications very successfully. This will be your choice as a patient and depend on the severity of symptoms.
